Alive & V Dubbin 10th – 12th June 2011

June 21, 2011

Well…they did it again 3rd year in a row…crackin show!

This show grows from strength to strength and Wubs Dubs will certainly continue to support it and lucky for us it’s practically on our door step! Run by the Suffolk Burgs the show is purely done for the love of V Dubs as all the committee and volunteers donate their time in organising this event and it’s a completely non – profit show.

Out came the van ready for its load on Friday morning as we made our way to Stonham Barns home of Alive & V Dubbin around lunch time. Safari’s and wipers held their own as the havens opened on the way but managed to get the marquee up just in time before the next down pour! Not being put off by the rain Camper Vans started to arrive on the dot of 3 when the gates opened and continued coming! Taking quite a leisurely pace for a change we were ready for action by about 4.30pm when Ange scooted off (can you believe it) for the evening at a charity Ball whilst I was just happy to just chill and catch up with some of the Suffolk Bugrs team, Spence ‘Spencer’s in the House’ and Brian from ‘Chilli Gone Barmy’ John chilli’s twin brother bought his Samba along…stunning, dedicated 5 years into getting this beauty together so it was great to take a look around at long last. It may have been a damp old night but that didn’t stop the Friday night crowds getting into the swing of it as the weekend entertainment got underway.

Ange returned Saturday morning with a van load of Salt Rock Skim Boards, Hoodys and VW Models that we couldn’t squeeze in on the Friday whilst everyone else was getting their bacon butties underway. The show itself got underway in the main arena with a ‘Freak or Unique’ vehicle display whist during the rest of the day there were shed loads going on for the kid with workshops galore, Giant Camper Van Chalkboard for any budding artist, Climbing Wall, Skate Ramp and Bouncy Castle all for free! A great selection of sounds pumped out all over the weekend set on the 40 footer and with Druids Brew with ‘Pumpkin’ the ’64 Samba. Great day…and had a number of new and old Face Book buddies come in for a chat, we managed to catch up with Michelle, Noel and family for a few bevies in the evening at their colour coordinated Late Bay and camping area! First met these guys at Run to Hills a few years ago, little did I know then that that they came from Colchester and we all grew up on the same estate as one another!

Sunday skies looked a bit bleak but that certainly didn’t put anyone off, just as busy as the Saturday. Kids coming in with mum getting Dads Fathers Day pressies, good old Campervan Cufflinks…always a winner as well as odd Money Clip and Weekly Planner here n there, whilst others had Weddings in mind buying up Campervan Confetti, Campervan and VW Beetle Cameras and VW Greetings Cards. Arena packed with Show n Shine entrance watched on as the skies started to opened but everyone was still in good spirits whist the raffle got underway on behalf of the East Anglia Children’s Hospice and I won…. A Hand Bag! Entertainment and Music continued to fill the air until around 4.30 when the show finally came to a close…another year over…roll on 2012! See our WubsDubs Facebook Page.
